🎅🏻 Santa made a silly surprise appearance at our KHS middle school cluster concert! From sleigh bells ringing to a few dance moves, he brought extra joy to an already great evening of music brought to us by our Eastern Hills, Manor, and Rancier Middle School Band programs!

Congratulations to Assistant Fine Arts Director, Deb Barrick who shared best practices in singing with elementary music educators last week at the OAKE Southern Division Mini-Conference. Ms. Barrick is the Director of the Killeen ISD Kodaly Educators' Program which intensively trains elementary music educators in vocal pedagogy for children. Congratulations!

Congratulations to all five KISD High Schools for cleaning up at this year's Texas Thespian State Festival. Our students took home 21 top awards in eight different categories, they learned from top industry professionals from across the country, received over 200 college & career call backs and were even selected for leadership positions on and off the Main Stage Performance as well as leading the festival as a State Thespian Officer. We are proud of our students' accomplishments. For many of them, this was their first time attending this event. @TexArtEd Conference is in the. books. It was a busy conference for Killeen ISD teachers. In addition to hands-on learning, we accepted our District of Distinction Award, presented several best practices to art teachers across the state and proudly displayed our students' amd teacher's artwork. Several art students from Killeen High School were selected to exhibit their work in the Temple College Art Show. This competitive event is open to high school and college students throughout Central Texas. Congratulations to Milaidy Rosado, Darla Segura and Canon Pusley. Canon's piece "Sleepless Dreamer" also received a Merit Award. The artwork is on display at Temple College through December 2nd.

KISD Secondary Art Students, Britnee Bestick, Jada Masao and Aspen Baird were honored last night by the KISD Board of Trustees. Their artwork was exhibited in the Texas Art Education Association's TASA/TASB exhibit at TxEdCon25. Honored also last night were CHS Theatre Directors, Sam Dunaway and Chad Moore and UGMS theatre director Blake Jones for being two-time recipients of the Texas Educational Theater Association's Campus of Distinction Award. Our high school choir students recently participated in two separate auditions, yielding impressive results.
Congratulations are in order for our KISD students who secured positions in the Region XIII 9-10 Region Choir. Furthermore, we extend our congratulations to students who progressed to the second round of auditions in the All-State Choir process. We take immense pride in the numerous students who have qualified for the third and final Area audition in January.
All of these students, along with those who made the 9-12 Region Choir in September, will come together for their clinic and concert this Saturday at Chaparral High School. Join us for the concert at 5:00 pm in the Chaparral HS Auditorium.
